Relaxed, social 4-mile charity fun run from Tollcross to Portobello in aid of the Edinburgh Dog & Cat Home.
The Margarita Marathon comes to Seamus's Pub on Sunday 1 November, a four-mile charity run across Edinburgh in aid of the Edinburgh Dog & Cat Home. It's presented by Dropkick Murphys, who describe it as a relaxed, social run undertaken at your own risk. The route is mostly downhill, taking you from Tollcross to Portobello High Street via The Meadows, Duddingston Road Lower and Duddingston Village, and all proceeds go to the animal charity.
It's a short distance — four miles, not twenty-six — so it's more of a trot than a proper marathon, which explains the joke in the title. The downhill stretch makes it a bit easier on the legs, too. Once you cross the finish line, you're rewarded with a free Margarita: classic, spicy or fruity, your choice. It's a feel-good day out for a good cause, and the reward at the end is a nice bonus for getting the miles in.

One thing to keep in mind: despite the charity being for the Edinburgh Dog & Cat Home, dogs and cats aren't allowed on the run itself, so leave your pets at home for this one. The event runs from 12:00 to 14:00 at Seamus's Pub, 15 Brougham Place, Edinburgh EH3 9JX.
