A multi-media stage show by ex-Lindisfarne members Ray Laidlaw and Billy Mitchell, performing the band's songs and telling the story of their career.
Ray Laidlaw and Billy Mitchell bring The Lindisfarne Story to the Assembly Rooms on Sunday 4 April 2027. It's a multi-media stage show they've put together as former members of Lindisfarne, and the two of them perform the band's songs while telling the story of how it all happened. They talk through Lindisfarne's rise to fame and the people they met and worked with across countless concert tours, recording sessions, and appearances on festivals, radio, and TV.
Lindisfarne was Tyneside's best-loved band for more than thirty years. Over half a century ago, Fog On The Tyne topped the UK album charts as the biggest-selling UK album of 1972, and their career included a record-breaking 120 appearances at Newcastle City Hall. Along the way they put out hits like 'Meet Me On The Corner', 'Lady Eleanor', 'Clear White Light', 'Road To Kingdom Come', 'January Song', and 'Run For Home'.
Laidlaw and Mitchell bill the show as a blues, folk, pop and rock night, and fans have called it 'a very special' evening. The Assembly Rooms is one of Edinburgh's largest and most impressive multi-purpose event spaces, combining timeless elegance with modern technology, with enormous crystal chandeliers, gleaming gold leaf and giant gilt mirrors.
