Weekly weekend stand-up showcase at Monkey Barrel Comedy, with shows at 5pm, 7pm and 9pm.
The Big Show Saturday kicks off at Monkey Barrel Comedy on 31 October, the start of a run that carries on every Saturday until 19 December. It's the club's award-winning weekend showcase, and it runs every Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the season.
If you're not familiar with the room, Monkey Barrel is right in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town. It's a year-round institution here, and The Telegraph has called it the 'Beating Heart' of the Fringe. It's been named Scotland's Best Comedy Venue at the Chortle Awards every year since 2020, and it picked up Best Comedy Club at the Scottish Comedy Awards in 2017 and 2018. The room has hosted both of the 2022 Edinburgh Comedy Awards winners, as well as Best Comedy Show 2023 and Best Newcomer 2024, and comedians Kevin Bridges and Sam Campbell have praised it. It's also got more than 500 five-star TripAdvisor reviews.
There's a couple of things that make it easy to work around. The adjoining Barrel Bar serves locally sourced beers, cocktails and spirits, and they do table service throughout the show, so you don't have to get up and miss anything. And because the show runs every weekend, you've got plenty of dates to choose from if the first one doesn't fit your schedule.

On Saturdays, there are three separate shows to pick from. The 5pm one runs for an hour and twenty minutes; the 7pm show is the middle option; and the 9pm show runs for an hour and forty-five minutes, which includes an interval. Prices go up with the later slots: the 5pm is £12 per person (£10 for students), the 7pm is £15 (£13 for students), and the 9pm is £18. If you're going with a group, the early show is the cheapest way to do it.
