Free Christmas market with handmade pieces by local Portobello makers and designers at Portobello Town Hall.
Support The Makers returns to Portobello Town Hall on Sunday 6 December, with the Christmas market running from 10 am to 2 pm. It's a regular market that celebrates creativity at the heart of the Portobello community, and this is its festive edition.
The hall fills with handmade pieces from local artists, makers and designers, so you'll find a fair bit of variety under one roof. There are accessories, jewellery, textiles, homewares, ceramics, stationery, art and prints, all made by people working nearby rather than mass-produced. It's a good spot if you're looking for something a bit more considered than the usual high street options, and because the makers are there in person, you can usually chat with them about how their work comes together.
Support The Makers does more than just this one market, too. They run a Young Makers Market specifically for makers under 18, which gives younger creatives a chance to show their work alongside the more established names. This Christmas edition is part of that wider commitment to the local making community.
