Eleven-piece Pink Floyd tribute show running through the Floyd's greatest hits with light shows, laser projections and cinema-quality visuals.
The Scottish Pink Floyd play Portobello Town Hall on Friday 30 October, from 19:00 to 22:00. They're an eleven-piece ensemble, and they bill themselves as Scotland's premier Pink Floyd tribute band.
The set is a two-and-a-half-hour Greatest Hits spectacular that runs through the Floyd catalogue, drawing on decades of faithful performances. It covers the big ones — The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here — and goes on to The Wall and The Division Bell. It's not just about the music, either: the songs are backed by immersive light shows, laser projections, cinema-quality visuals and authentic sound effects, so it's as much about what you see as what you hear.
With eleven people on stage, they've got the numbers to do the arrangements properly rather than relying on a few tracks. The show is built around the hits from across the band's career, and they've been playing this material for years, so they know the records inside out. It's a long set, too — two and a half hours of it, from the early classics through to the later albums.
