Tony Blackburn OBE hosts a live show of 1960s hits with the Sounds Of The 60s All Star Band & Singers at the Edinburgh Playhouse.
Tony Blackburn OBE is bringing Sounds Of The 60s Live to the Edinburgh Playhouse on Thursday 2 September 2027, with the show starting at 7:30 PM. He's hosting the night, and he's not on his own — he'll be joined by the Sounds Of The 60s All Star Band & Singers, so it's a full live band and singers on stage rather than just a DJ set.
If you've never come across him, Blackburn is one of Britain's best-known broadcasters, with a career that's gone on for more than six decades. He made broadcasting history in 1967 as the first voice heard on BBC Radio 1, where he presented the station's original Breakfast Show. He's spent a lifetime championing soul music and played a big part in bringing the genre to British audiences. He still presents BBC Radio 2's Sounds of the Sixties, alongside Tony Blackburn's Golden Hour and Sounds of Soul on BBC Sounds.
His television work covers Top of the Pops, The One Show and Morning Live, and he became the first ever winner of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! back in 2002. He's picked up 37 industry awards along the way, including two Gold Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Radio — the only broadcaster to receive the honour twice — and an OBE in 2024 for services to broadcasting. In 2026 he added author to the list with the launch of Joketastic.
