Photography workshop to explore the changing seasons, starting at Bridgend Farmhouse before heading out into Craigmillar Woods, with no prior experience required.
Bridgend Farmhouse is running a series of seasonal mindful photography workshops, with dates falling between 3 October 2026 and 10 July 2027. The whole thing is led by Ines, and the idea is to bring photography and mindfulness together to look at the changing landscape around the city. There are four sessions in total, one for each season — autumn, winter, spring and summer — so you can see how the same stretch of land shifts as the year goes by.
Each session starts at the farmhouse before the group heads out into Craigmillar Woods for the actual photography. When you're back, there's a relaxed chat over hot drinks and biscuits, and a chance to share what you've noticed. You don't need any previous photography experience or specialist gear to join in; a mobile phone camera is plenty. The sessions run mostly outdoors, so you'll want to dress for the weather.
Bridgend Farmhouse itself is a busy spot. Beyond these workshops, they run a regular weekly schedule of meetups and volunteering, alongside special events like a community meal made with ingredients from their community garden or food saved from landfill, Arts and Crafts Wednesdays, and Woodcraft with Oliver, a free woodworking session with an experienced woodcarver. If you're a regular, a neighbour's card gets you 20% off select events and classes.
