Samhain gathering with breathwork, shamanic drumming and sound healing led by Ana of Fairy Tale Therapies and Wilma Patrizio of WilWellbeing.
Art and Spirituality in Gorgie is hosting a Samhain ritual on Saturday 31 October, starting at 18:00. It's run by Ana of Fairy Tale Therapies and Wilma Patrizio of WilWellbeing, and it's built around the Celtic turning of the wheel into winter and the end of the harvest season — a time when the veil between worlds is traditionally thought to be thinner.
The evening moves through a few different stages. It starts with breathwork and shamanic drumming, followed by a guided journey, and then an immersive sound healing experience. The sound journey draws on a wide range of instruments: gong, Tibetan singing bowls, shamanic drum, Koshi chimes, tingsha bells, rain stick, rattles, and voice and toning. The whole thing is framed as a space for reflection, release and renewal, so it's less of a performance to watch and more of a session to be in.
Ana and Wilma bring two different backgrounds to the table. Ana, of Fairy Tale Therapies, is a holistic practitioner with about ten years' experience in bodywork, energy work and shamanic practices. Wilma Patrizio, of WilWellbeing, has more than 28 years in holistic therapies, is a Reiki Master and has been teaching since 2001. Between them, they've got a fair bit of time spent working in these fields.
