Rhoda Dakar, the voice of The Bodysnatchers and former member of The Specials, brings her classic ska and 2-tone sound to The Voodoo Rooms.
Rhoda Dakar plays The Voodoo Rooms on Friday 12 February 2027, as part of her Back For More tour. It's billed as a night of essential ska and 2-tone, and she'll be on stage with a five-piece backing band.
If the name doesn't ring a bell, the associations should. Dakar was the voice of The Bodysnatchers, the all-female 2-Tone band she fronted when she started recording in 1979. From there, she went on to record with The Specials, The Special AKA, and Madness, alongside her own solo work, which has earned seven gold and two silver albums. As a collaborator, she's worked with the Dub Pistols, The Interrupters, and Rancid's Tim Armstrong. She's also a respected DJ and has toured with UB40, The Selecter, and The Specials. Beyond the music, she's written sleevenotes for Trojan Records and for the late Terry Hall. Louder Than War described her as a 'goddamn national treasure'.
