Somatic workshop on nervous system regulation and trauma-informed self-compassion, part of The Surrender Series by KOA Edinburgh.
Reclaiming Your Body Through Somatic and Integrative Practices runs at The Salisbury Centre on Saturday 24 October, from 10:00 to 13:00. It's a three-hour workshop held in the Studio, part of The Surrender Series, a trauma-informed programme of somatic workshops, webinars and events run by KOA (KOA Edinburgh).
The session is led by Cori, who built the series around the word 'Surrender'—which she defines as self-compassion, nervous system regulation and acceptance. It grew out of her own experience with trauma, chronic stress and healing, and she's been working with that word since 2021. The first courses ran in 2023, and in January 2026 she launched a revised version, more inclusive and diversity-aware. The work draws on practitioners like Peter Levine, Arielle Schwartz, David Treleaven, Paul Gilbert, Bessel van der Kolk, Stephen Porges and Tara Brach.
In the room, the session blends somatic practices—breathwork, intuitive movement, shaking, grounding and progressive muscle relaxation—with nervous system regulation tools, trauma-sensitive mindfulness, group co-regulation and creative integration. It usually closes with live sound, meditation or gentle chanting, and 'Surrender Cards' provide reflective prompts throughout. The focus is on nervous system regulation, embodied self-awareness and authentic connection.
