Musical adaptation of the romantic comedy 'Pretty Woman', directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell with a rock score by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance.
Pretty Woman The Musical comes to the Edinburgh Playhouse from Tuesday 1 June to Saturday 5 June 2027. It's the stage version of the romantic comedy, with the story moved from the screen to the theatre.
There's a fair bit of name recognition behind this one. Direction and choreography are by Jerry Mitchell, who's picked up two Tony Awards for Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde and Hairspray. The music is an original rock score by Grammy winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance — the duo behind 'Summer of '69' and 'Heaven' — so it's a different sound from the film. The book comes from the original movie's director, Garry Marshall, and screenwriter J. F. Lawton, so the dialogue and the beats of the story stay close to the one you know.
The Edinburgh run follows a record-breaking West End run and a sell-out first UK tour in 2023, so it's not exactly a new production by the time it reaches us. It's a short stay, though — just five days at the Playhouse — so you'll want to pick your date early rather than leave it until the last minute.
