Nine Below Zero mark their 50th anniversary with a tour show at La Belle Angele, with Dennis Greaves and Mark Feltham and special guests Bruce Foxton, Robbie McIntosh and Dr. Feelgood.
Nine Below Zero are playing La Belle Angele on Saturday 27 November 2027, as part of a tour marking fifty years of British rhythm and blues. It's a landmark anniversary for them, and they're celebrating it with Dennis Greaves and Mark Feltham back together on stage. They've brought along a few special guests too, with Bruce Foxton of The Jam, Robbie McIntosh and Dr. Feelgood all listed on the bill.
If you're not familiar with them, Nine Below Zero are one of the UK's finest rhythm and blues bands. They formed in South East London and took their name from the Sonny Boy Williamson song. They signed to A&M Records in 1980 and released Live at the Marquee that same year, and by the end of it they'd grown from selling out the Marquee to selling out the Hammersmith Odeon. Their debut studio album, Don't Point Your Finger, followed in 1981, then Third Degree in 1982, which is widely regarded as their finest and features 'Wipe Away Your Kiss' and 'You Can't Say Yes And You Can't Say No' — the cover was shot by David Bailey. Since 1988 they've released another twenty LPs.
There's a fair bit of session history tucked into the band's background as well. Mark Feltham has been hired as a harmonica player by Oasis, Annie Lennox, Talk Talk and Rory Gallagher, and Dennis Greaves later formed the mod group The Truth. Over the years they've toured with The Who and The Kinks, and appeared on The Old Grey Whistle Test, The South Bank Show and the first episode of The Young Ones.
