The West End comedy musical based on the film Mrs. Doubtfire, with its UK tour run at the Edinburgh Playhouse.
Mrs. Doubtfire The Musical is coming to the Edinburgh Playhouse for a three-week run starting on 1 December 2026. It's the West End comedy musical based on the film, and this Edinburgh stop is part of its UK tour. The show works its way through the movie's most iconic moments, and it adds new songs and dance numbers to the mix.
The story follows Daniel, an out-of-work actor who creates the alter ego of Scottish nanny Euphegenia Doubtfire in a desperate attempt to stay in his children's lives after losing custody in a messy divorce. It's a familiar setup, and the stage version keeps the comedy that made the film a hit. Critics have called it 'genuinely funny' (Time Out) and a 'surefire hit' (The Telegraph, Daily Express).
It's playing at the Edinburgh Playhouse, Scotland's largest theatre and the UK's biggest all-seated venue, with 3,059 seats. It sits on Greenside Place at the top of Leith Walk in central Edinburgh, and it's one of the UK's most significant touring venues for major West End musicals, hosting extended runs of the biggest productions alongside headline stand-up comedy, arena-scale concerts and one-night live events throughout the year, including during the annual Edinburgh Festival season.
