Award-nominated comedian Micky Overman brings her stand-up show to Monkey Barrel Comedy, asking how to make sense of a world that keeps getting worse.
Micky Overman brings her new show, Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time, to Monkey Barrel Comedy on Wednesday 20 October. It's part of a run that opens on 29 September and goes through to 4 December, so there are plenty of dates to choose from if you can't make that one.
The show is built around one question: how do you make sense of a world that keeps getting worse when your own life keeps getting better? It's the kind of thing that's easy to think about but hard to actually answer, and that's where the comedy comes in. Overman fills the gaps with spot-on observations and stories, and she'll be working her way through the whole thing live on stage. She does mention that you might come away with a nugget of wisdom or two, though she's quick to add that wisdom isn't guaranteed.
If you haven't come across her before, Overman is an award-nominated comedian with a following of over 325,000 online and tens of millions of views, and she's appeared on ITV2, Channel 4 and LUBACH. This show follows a successful international tour that ended with a sold-out run at the Royal Theater CarrΓ© in Amsterdam, so she's coming to Edinburgh after playing some fairly big rooms.
