Meet the makers session with Glasgow designer and maker Stefanie Ying Lin Cheong, closing the 'Earth Matters: Meet the Makers' series at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.
Stefanie Ying Lin Cheong is the focus of a Meet the Makers session at Inverleith House on Sunday 1 November, from 2 pm to 4 pm. It's the final workshop in the Earth Matters: Meet the Makers series, which has been running alongside the wider Earth Matters exhibition at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.
That exhibition, which runs from 20 March to 1 November at Inverleith House, is free and open to all. It marks 300 years since the birth of James Hutton, the Edinburgh-born geologist, farmer and thinker who changed how we understand the Earth's creation. More than 30 artists have worked with the Garden's living ecosystem to show its brilliance, beauty and fragility. The Meet the Makers series is a creative partnership with curator Susanna Beaumont and Design Exhibition Scotland, and the exhibition is supported by Postcode Lottery players and the Edinburgh Geological Society, with thanks to the James Hutton Institute. It also sits within the Edinburgh Science Festival, Edinburgh Art Festival, RSA200 and James Hutton Tercentenary 2026.
Cheong is a Glasgow-based designer and maker whose practice is guided by environmental concerns. She advocates for sustainable craft, working with ethical metals and Scottish rock and refining traditional lapidary techniques. This session is her turn in the spotlight, and it's the last one of the series.
