Day of presentations, workshops and networking on community work in nature, run by the Community Engagement team at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.
The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is hosting the Communities Engaging in Nature Conference on Monday 16 November, from 10:00 to 16:00. It's run by the Garden's Community Engagement team and is aimed at anyone who works with and as part of communities in nature. The day is about celebrating and sharing the power of community work in nature, bringing together a wide range of perspectives from across Scotland for discussion, networking and discovery.
The programme mixes presentations, workshops, lunchtime activities and collective reflective sessions. The themes they'll be working around include community ecosystems, combining community and nature benefits in landscape design and management, wellbeing in community projects, how community projects grow their nature work, community skills for nature, community gardens and the 'co' in community: collaboration, co-production and co-creation.
Camilo Brokaw and Sarah Tirado-Bowers of CEMVO Scotland open the day. They're joined by a broad line-up of speakers: Akriti Mathur from Get Sow Green, Ally Hurčíková from Grassroots Remedies Co-op, Angela Farnish and Kirsten Bowers from Abundant Borders, Annabel Davidson Knight from the Scottish Land Commission, Dr Emma Bush from the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, Dr Jaima H Smith from the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (Edinburgh Zoo) and Laura Curtis-Moss from RSPB Scotland and the John Muir Trust.
