One-night-only stand-up and poetry show by Luke Wright, blending his trademark wit with a personal story about adoption and identity.
Luke Wright brings Later Life Letter to St Cecilia's Hall on Thursday 26 November, a one-night-only Edinburgh date presented by Scottish Adoption and Fostering in conjunction with Adoption UK. It's an hour-long show that blends poetry, stand-up and deeply personal storytelling to explore Wright's own adoption story. He's an acclaimed poet and performer, and this one is built around his own history rather than a fictional subject.
Across the hour, Wright works through identity, family, belonging and the complexities of discovering your roots. He does it with his usual wit, honesty and razor-sharp observation, and the tone shifts between raucous laughter and more moving moments. There's even a bit of drum and bass mixed in, so it's not just a quiet reading. It's a personal account of a particular kind of family history, told by someone who's spent a career writing and performing on stage.
The show is recommended for ages 14 and over, and your ticket includes a light refreshment and a chance to meet Luke Wright at the end. It's a single night here in the city, not a touring run, so this is the only date for it in Edinburgh.
