Stand-up show by Laura Smyth, who covers her everyday, ever-changing life with truth, warmth and hilarity.
Laura Smyth brings her new show, Born Aggy, to Monkey Barrel Comedy on Wednesday 11 November, with the set starting at 7.30pm. It's her first time back in Edinburgh with new material, and the show is listed as postponed, so it's worth checking the latest before you set off.
Smyth has had a proper rise in comedy over the last few years. Her debut tour, Living My Best Life, sold out up and down the country, and she's spent a good deal of time supporting some of the biggest names in the business — Jack Whitehall, Michelle de Swarte, Alan Davies and Jason Manford. That's a lot of stage time sharing a bill with people who know exactly how to hold a room, and it's given her a chance to hone her set in front of some very different crowds.
She's also become a regular on the panel show circuit, with appearances on QI, Would I Lie To You?, 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and Live at The Apollo. If you've caught her on any of those, you'll know she's not afraid to lean into the chaos of the moment. Born Aggy continues that streak, with Smyth talking about her everyday, ever-changing life with the same truth, warmth and hilarity that carried her last tour. She's beaten cancer and tried alternative healing along the way, and she still thinks everyone's a d*ckhead — that's a fair bit of ground to cover in one show.
