Free Edinburgh Cycling Club led cycle along the Water of Leith to Lost Shore at Ratho and back to Edinburgh along the canal.
The Edinburgh Cycling Club is heading out for the Kirkliston Cruise - Lost Shore on Saturday 19 December, a guided ride that takes you from the city centre out to the edge of the Lothians and back again. The meeting point is Middle Meadow Walk, right in the heart of the Meadows, and the ride runs from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
The route follows the Water of Leith, which carries you away from the city and out towards the Lost Shore at Ratho. From there, the return leg comes back into Edinburgh along the canal, so you'll see two different sides of the city's waterways in one go. It's a fair distance to cover, and the canal section gives you a flatter, more open stretch to work with on the way home.
This is an Edinburgh Cycling Club led ride, and Gerry T is the one leading the way. If you've done their rides before, you know the drill: you'll be riding in a group rather than off on your own, with a lead rider setting the pace and keeping an eye on the route. It's a good way to get a decent distance in without having to navigate the whole thing yourself.

It's a free ride, so there's nothing to pay upfrontโjust turn up at Middle Meadow Walk on the morning of the 19th. The whole thing runs from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, so you'll be back in the city by mid-afternoon, with the Water of Leith and the canal as your guide.
