Stand-up show by Jeff Innocent, following his debut tour and special 'Smart Casual', at Monkey Barrel Comedy Club.
Jeff Innocent is back at Monkey Barrel Comedy on Sunday 9 May, with a new hour of stand-up called Leaning In. It's his first show since his debut tour and the comedy special Smart Casual, both of which went down well, so this is a fresh start rather than a repeat of the old stuff.
The title gives you a good idea of where he's coming from. At 70, and after decades of resisting it, he's decided to embrace his twilight years with a calm and accepting mindset — that's the plan, anyway. It's the kind of thing that works best when you're actually living it, and he's got plenty of life to draw on.
He's a popular and experienced stand-up who performs all over the world and regularly appears on TV and radio as a comedian, actor and cultural commentator, and he's written for various publications along the way. The critics have been on his side too: Kate Copstick of The Scotsman called him "clever, honest, funny, hugely likeable", and Chortle noted that he "commands the room".
