James Barr brings his award-winning Fringe show about shame, survival and domestic abuse to the Monkey Barrel Comedy Club in Edinburgh.
James Barr brings Sorry I Hurt Your Son (Said My Ex To My Mum) to Monkey Barrel Comedy on Saturday 5 December, part of his UK stand-up tour. The show first landed at the Edinburgh Fringe as a darkly funny reckoning with shame, survival and domestic abuse, and it's been called a 'genre-defying' hour of stand-up.
Barr is a multi-award-winning performer, and the show has picked up three major nominations at the Fringe: Best Show at the ISH Edinburgh Comedy Awards, NextUp's Biggest Award in Comedy, and the Queer Performers Award. Broadway Baby described it as 'brave, funny and gloriously empowering', and it sat among the best-reviewed shows of 2025. The Edinburgh date is one stop on a tour taking the set across the UK.
Outside of the comedy circuit, Barr is a broadcaster and storyteller. He co-hosts weekday mornings on Hits Radio Breakfast alongside Fleur East and Will Best, and his appearances on Piers Morgan Uncensored have racked up over 50 million views. His podcast, A Gay And A NonGay, won both a Webby and a LOVIE award in 2025 and remains one of the UK's most loved LGBTQ+ shows.
