Guided four-to-five-hour hike through the Pentland Hills with views over Edinburgh, Lothian, the Borders and Fife, run by Rishi's Edinburgh Tours.
Rishi's Edinburgh Tours is running a hill and nature hike starting from King's Theatre on Monday 2 November, and it's one of several dates they've got lined up through to 24 April. The walk takes you out of the city and into the Pentland Hills on Edinburgh's outskirts, where the landscape opens up into the kind of nature you'd expect from the Scottish Highlands, with views across Edinburgh, Lothian, the Borders and Fife. If you're lucky, you'll spot some Highland cows along the way.
It's pitched as a way to uncover the city's true beauty, with history and nature on offer. The whole thing takes around four to five hours and covers some six to seven miles, so it's a proper day out rather than a quick stroll. You'll need a moderate level of physical fitness and appropriate footwear for the terrain, and service animals are welcome. Light snacks, a bottle of water and an all-day bus ticket are included in the price, and the day finishes with a twenty to thirty minute journey back to the city centre.
