Night of electronic music by Massie, half of Bothy Bass, at Sneaky Pete's in Edinburgh.
Massie plays Sneaky Pete's on Thursday 29 October, a rare live appearance from a name that usually stays behind the scenes. If you've come across the name before, it's probably from the record label rather than the stage, so this is one of the few times you'll actually catch him playing out in the flesh.
There's a fair bit of context to unpack here. Massie is one half of Bothy Bass, and he's a former Boiler Room host, so he's well-versed in the club side of things. But he's also the game development architect behind the Truth.Hz label, which puts him in a different kind of creative role entirely — building the technical side of a label rather than just booking it. It's that crossover between music and code that sits at the heart of what he does.
He doesn't play out often. When he does release new music, it's usually under his Massinho64 alias, so seeing him perform live as Massie is the exception rather than the rule. If you're into the more technical, production-led side of electronic music, that's exactly why this one is worth noting — it's a rare look at the person behind the label and the alias.
