Emma Stevens brings her full band to Sneaky Pete's on Cowgate, headlining with Rachael Sage.
Emma Stevens plays Sneaky Pete's on Thursday 29 October, with Rachael Sage opening the night. It's a full-band show, and for anyone who's only heard her as a solo act, that's the main thing to keep in mind: she's bringing her full band on the road for this one.
Stevens has spent a few years building a following on the back of four BBC Radio 2 playlists, an iTunes single of the week, and more than 40 TV syncs across the UK. Her profile took a different kind of leap in China when 'A Place Called You' landed on a prime-time show watched by over 75 million people; the track has since gone over 700 million streams. 'Keep Dreaming' became a viral hit on TikTok and Instagram, with more than a million uses. Along the way, she's supported The Feeling, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Wet Wet Wet, Take That, Train, Simply Red, Eagle Eye Cherry and Passenger.
Her music has been described as pulling a genre apart stitch-by-stitch and re-assembling it to her own specifications, a sound so singular that its purity is inescapable. It's a good way of putting it, because it's hard to pin her down to one particular box. The full band on stage should give the set a different weight than the solo recordings, and with Rachael Sage opening, there's two acts to work through over the course of the evening.
