Weekly Sunday 'Hair Of The Dog' session with live music at the late bar SlĂ inte Mhath in Edinburgh Old Town.
Hair Of The Dog is back at SlĂ inte Mhath this Sunday, 1 November, for another session of live music in the Old Town. It's the venue's regular Sunday afternoon slot, and the name is a nod to the old remedy for a hangover: another drink to cure the first one. The session is aimed at anyone feeling a bit ruff after the weekend, with a pint and some chilled tunes to charge you up for the week ahead.
SlĂ inte Mhath itself is a modern Scottish late bar on the Cowgate, and the name comes from the traditional Gaelic toast meaning 'good health'. The place runs on the motto Ceol, Craic, Chaos â music, good times and chaos â which sets the tone for what they do. It's known as the Cowgate's favourite party bar, and Sunday is just one part of a busy week: there's live music every Thursday, and Cheese Pop & Charts from the resident DJ on Friday and Saturday nights, when the doors stay open until 3am.
Hair Of The Dog is the more laid-back side of that. It's billed as a place to get together before the coming week, so it works whether you're coming in for a quiet one or meeting up with friends. The bar serves craft drinks and cocktails, so you can stick to a pint or go for something a bit more elaborate while the music runs in the background.
