Six-piece Dire Straits tribute act that pairs studio versions of the band's classic songs with extended live concert renditions.
Dire Streets are playing the Assembly Rooms on Sunday 25 October, a live theatre show built around the songs of Dire Straits. They're a six-piece band of some of the UK's top tribute musicians, and they've spent more than a decade working through the band's back catalogue for theatre audiences across the country. They describe themselves as the stand-out Dire Straits tribute act in the UK, and they've played to thousands of people in that time.
The set pairs faithful studio renditions of the classic songs with extended live versions drawn from Dire Straits' legendary concerts. They're noted for coming as close as any live act to reproducing Mark Knopfler's distinctive guitar and vocal tones, so if that's what you're listening for, it's the main thing they're aiming for. The whole thing is a tribute to the studio recordings and the live shows that followed, rather than a new take on the material.
