Free, ticketed workshop led by Jordan & Skinner on devising accessible theatre, in BSL and spoken English.
Jordan & Skinner are running a workshop on devising accessible theatre at the Studio Theatre on Tuesday 20 October, from 2pm with a running time of about two hours. It's an open session for creatives, and it's led in both BSL and spoken English, so it's open to D/deaf and hearing artists alike.
Jordan & Skinner is the award-winning duo of performer Melanie Jordan and director Caitlin Skinner. They make joyful performance out of the things that make them angry, mixing physical theatre, clown, dance, politics and visual metaphor. Their productions have toured all over Scotland and they're Fringe regulars, picking up a Fringe First for Sanitise and a Three Weeks Award for At A Stretch. This session draws on the creative models the company has developed over a decade of making feminist theatre.
The workshop sits within Capital Theatres' 'Creative Engagement' programme, 'Discover, create, belong', which aims to open the venue's doors to everyone through initiatives like an award-winning dementia-friendly programme and heritage tours across its sites. As part of the session, participants also get a discounted ticket to a performance of the company's show Do Not Pass Go on the day of their choice.
