Free described tour led by artist Tessa Asquith-Lamb of the retrospective 'Kenneth Dingwall: Being' at the City Art Centre.
Kenneth Dingwall: Being is on at the City Art Centre from Friday 15 January to Saturday 6 February, and there's a described tour running alongside it. The tour is led by artist Tessa Asquith-Lamb, who'll take you through the exhibition, and it's run in association with 'Kenneth Dingwall for Visually Impaired'.
The exhibition itself is a major retrospective of the Edinburgh-based artist, pulling together more than 70 works from across his career. It's a broad mix: abstract drawings, paintings, prints and constructions, gathered from public and private collections across the UK as well as from Dingwall's own studio. Some of these pieces have never been shown before, so it's a good chance to see work that's usually kept out of the public eye.
Spanning 60 years, the show gives a comprehensive overview of Dingwall's practice and a timely reassessment of his contribution to abstract art. The described tour is designed to make that work accessible, with Asquith-Lamb guiding you through the rooms. It's a way to experience the retrospective if you're visually impaired, or if you just prefer having the work described as you go.
