Solo print exhibition by Aberdeen-based artist Ade Adesina with monumental woodcuts, etchings, linocuts and screen-prints.
Ade Adesina brings his solo exhibition Bard to the City Art Centre on 7 November, and it's staying put until 11 April 2027, so there's plenty of time to fit it in. It's a wide-ranging show from the Aberdeen-based printmaker, with monumental woodcuts, etchings, linocuts and screen-prints on the walls, alongside collaborative works and a new print commissioned specifically for the exhibition.
Adesina was born in Nigeria in 1980 and now works in Aberdeen, and that mix of African roots, British culture and global travel runs through his practice. He works within the traditions of fine art printmaking, and his prints are known for their scale and detail, taking in architecture, the natural world and colonial histories. There's a balance there between beauty and a darker underbelly that reveals the impact of human intervention on the planet, and the collaborative pieces show him working with other artists too.
Because it's a solo show, you'll see a good cross-section of his work in one room, and the new commission gives you something that hasn't been seen before. It's a long run, so you don't have to rush—you can go in, take your time with the larger pieces, and come back again later in the winter if you fancy it.
