Piano recital by Yuki Negishi of works by Claude Debussy performed by candlelight at St Giles' Cathedral.
Yuki Negishi brings a piano recital of Claude Debussy to St Giles' Cathedral on Friday 19 March 2027, part of the Evening Concert Series: Debussy By Candlelight. It's a single-composer programme, with the cathedral lit by candlelight for the hour.
The set pulls from some of Debussy's most poetic piano writing, and it's a broad one. There's Children's Corner, the Estampes, and L'isle joyeuse, alongside two of the Préludes from Book 1: No. 8, La fille aux cheveux de lin, and No. 10, La cathédrale engloutie. Clair de lune is in there too, so it covers a good stretch of his output, from the lyrical to the more haunting depths of La cathédrale engloutie.
At the keys is Yuki Negishi, a British pianist and Steinway Artist whose career has taken him across Europe and Asia, with more than 800 concerts in the UK and broadcasts on BBC Radio 3, Scala Radio, Channel 4 and ITV. He's also run an online series, Piano Music by Women, which Pianist magazine singled out as exceptional. The evening is presented by CityMusic Promotions Ltd.
