Full day of talks, cycling updates and a campaigning panel at Augustine United Church, with a light lunch included.
Cycling UK in Scotland are holding their annual gathering at Augustine United Church Hall on Saturday 31 October, a full day of talks and updates that's open to members and non-members alike. It's a proper day out for anyone who spends their time on two wheels, and it runs from 10:30 in the morning through to 16:00, with tea and coffee from 10:30 and the main session kicking off at 11:00.
The morning belongs to the stories. Gaelic-speaking mountain biker Kerry McPhee talks about riding in the Atlas Mountains and along the Silk Road, and about setting up community cycle groups in the Trossachs. After her, endurance cyclist Christina Maczenzie shares her own road back to the bike; she holds the LEJOG world record and was the fastest woman at the 1000-mile Trans Alba race, and she speaks about returning to endurance riding after a serious injury and a stroke.
From there it shifts to the bigger picture. A campaigning panel, chaired by Inverness Cycling Provost Emily Williams and featuring Sally Hinchcliffe, Robert Wheetman, Neil Russell and Aaron McCarthy, brings together advocates to discuss cycling's place in Scottish policy. The charity's trustees and campaigners then take over for the updates: Chair of Trustees Ashley Wheaton gives the general Cycling UK news, Ross Adams talks through the new Gallovidian Gravel route, and Suzanne Forup, Jim Densham and Scott Runciman update the room on community projects and policy work. A light lunch is included in the day.

It's free to attend, though there's an option to contribute £10 or £15 if you're feeling generous. You'll need a government-recognised photo ID for entry. The hall is at 41 George IV Bridge, Edinburgh EH1 1EL, so it's right in the city centre and easy to get to by bike.
