Creative wellbeing workshop led by certified coach Caitlin McDonald on setting boundaries and the power of saying 'no' to protect your creative life.
Caitlin McDonald leads a creative wellbeing workshop on the liberating power of saying no at suite 13, 130 Leith Walk on Tuesday 12 November. It's part of the Creative Roots, Open Wings (CROW) wellbeing series, which looks at creative wellbeing and the power of setting boundaries.
The session starts from the idea that time, energy and attention are the raw materials artists work with, and frames saying 'no' as an act of creative integrity rather than a limitation. It's less about the guilt of turning things down and more about what you gain when you do. McDonald, a certified coach, guides the group through a self-reflection exercise to write down their own 'no's, and you leave having committed to one real 'no' that opens up space in your creative life.
It's a practical session rather than a lecture, so you'll be doing your own work on the night. If you've been feeling stretched thin or like your creative time is being eaten away by other commitments, that's exactly what this is for. The whole thing is built around the idea that protecting your time is part of the work itself.
