Scotland's Top New Material Comedy Show: Cracking New Jokes!

Cracking New Jokes returns to Dragonfly on Thursday 29 October, the latest edition of the new material comedy night run by Good Egg Comedy. It's an annual community night, and the whole thing is built around experienced Scottish comedians road-testing fresh material in an intimate room of around 42 people that often sells out.

A resident compere — Ross, Ralph or Cobin — introduces up to five acts from the Scottish scene alongside special visiting acts. Some of them have appeared on television, others are testing material for national tours or weekend comedy clubs. Because it's a new material night, you're hearing jokes in their early stages rather than a polished, road-worn set. The organiser describes it as a night aimed at audiences interested in new voices on the stand-up circuit.

Good Egg Comedy run the night, and they keep up with their latest on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok if you want to follow them. The price has stayed the same since 2024, so it's a consistent one to keep on your radar.

The show is at Dragonfly Cocktail Bar, 52 W Port, Edinburgh, EH1 2LD. The bar opens at 4pm, and the show runs from about 8:00 to 10:30pm. Tickets are £5.00.
