Spandex Comedy - 5 Star Comedy

Spandex Comedy bring their 5 Star Comedy night to Dragonfly on Tuesday 3 November, part of their regular Tuesday-night stand-up series in Edinburgh's city centre. The venue is a cocktail bar at 52 West Port, and the room holds 40 people, so it's a small, tight space rather than a big club.

The night is billed as a new-material session, which is a bit different from a standard line-up of polished sets. Five or six comedians, mostly professionals, come on to road-test new jokes, so you're hearing things as they're being worked on rather than a routine they've done a hundred times. Each week, one up-and-coming act is given space on the bill, and a headline act rounds things off. Ralph hosts the whole thing.

The comedians come from around the world and play to an international audience, and the material is kept accessible — they avoid the kind of Scottish references that visitors might not get. It's strictly 18+, and tickets are available in advance or on the door. It sells out regularly, especially in the summer, so if you're planning on it, booking ahead is a safer bet than leaving it to the door. No cameras or audio recording are allowed inside.

Doors open at 7:45 PM and the show starts at 8:15 PM, with tickets at £7 per person.
