Country Roads

Entertainers are bringing Country Roads to the Assembly Rooms on Saturday 17 April 2027, a one-night-only show that works its way through the biggest country songs of all time. It's a live production from the producers behind the name, and they've billed it as a celebration of the 'Kings and Queens of country music'.

If you're wondering what that actually looks like on stage, the setlist covers a lot of ground. They'll be playing Dolly Parton's '9 to 5' and 'Jolene', Johnny Cash's 'Walk the Line', 'Ring of Fire', and 'Walkin' after Midnight', and Glen Campbell's 'Rhinestone Cowboy' and 'King of the Road'. There's also 'The Gambler', 'Crazy', and 'Dance the Night Away' in the mix. It's a broad run of the big names that defined the genre, from the Nashville sound to the Outlaw era, all in one evening.

They describe the show as taking audiences back to the 'Lost in Music of Country', and the setlist makes that clear: it's a trip through the songs that most people recognise from the radio, whether they're regular country listeners or not. The names they're working from — Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, and Glen Campbell — are the ones who built the foundation, so the night is built around their songs rather than new material.

It's a single date, so there's no tour to catch later if you miss this one. The show starts at 7.30pm at the Assembly Rooms, 54 George Street, Edinburgh, EH2 2LR.
