Online QMU Community Forum session in which Dr Robert Munro shares how filmmaking can inspire and empower young people.
Dr Robert Munro is taking the lead for the next Queen Margaret University Community Forum on Tuesday 3 November, from 6.30pm to 7.45pm. He's a Senior Lecturer in Film and Media at QMU, and the session is all about how filmmaking can inspire and empower young people.
It's not just theory, either. Munro is drawing on his work with schools across Edinburgh and Musselburgh, and he'll be talking through a collaboration with Broughton High School that saw three student-made films premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. He'll also be sharing what he's done with Stoneyhill Primary School in Musselburgh. Beyond those specific projects, he'll be bringing in insights from his wider research into film and media education in Scotland, and his work supporting teachers to strengthen film education in schools and communities.
To give you a bit of context, the QMU Community Forum runs twice a year and brings together local residents, community representatives, voluntary organisations, and university staff to talk through QMU's teaching, research, and community projects. It's open to anyone interested in the university's work, so you don't need to be a film buff or a teacher to join in.
