Free 30-minute Friday morning of messy play for children aged one to three at St George's School Nursery.
St George's School Nursery is hosting a messy play session on Friday 27 November, from 10:30 to 11:00. It's a half-hour slot, so it's a quick one — just enough time for the little ones to get stuck in without it becoming a whole-day operation. The session is open to families with children aged one to three, and it's free to attend.
It's part of the nursery's Come and Play Sessions, a series of fun Friday mornings they run during term time. This one is focused on messy play, but it's not the only thing on the rota: the programme also includes 'Bounce and Rhyme Time' and 'Musical Sounds', so if you're in the area, there are a few different ways to spend a Friday morning with your toddler. The sessions are led by the nursery's lead early years practitioner and staffed by certified Bookbug Session Leaders, so there are people on hand who know their way around early years and how to keep things moving.
The venue is St George's School Nursery, part of St George's School on Garscube Terrace, Edinburgh EH12 6BG. The school itself is an Edinburgh girls' school that takes pupils from ages two to eighteen, and it traces its roots back to founding mothers who pioneered women's education in Victorian Scotland. It's still a school that emphasises the voice of every girl, and more than 90% of its pupils reach their first-choice post-school destination after a mix of English GCSEs, Scottish Highers and Advanced Highers. The nursery is the early years end of that, and these sessions are open to the wider community.
