English punk rock band Cockney Rejects play La Belle Angèle in Cowgate.
Cockney Rejects are playing La Belle Angèle on Saturday 28 November, with the show starting at 19:00. They're the only name on the bill, so it's a straight-ahead headline set from a band that's been around long enough to have a proper history behind them.
If you're not familiar with the name, they're an English punk rock band formed in London back in 1977. That puts them right in the first wave of UK punk, and they've kept going since. They're a London band through and through, and that East End identity is a big part of who they are.
There's a bit of music history tucked into their discography, too. One of their tracks from 1980 ended up giving the Oi! music genre its name, so they've got a hand in the naming of a whole scene that grew out of the punk they started with. It's the kind of detail that puts them more than just another band from the era.
