Small Christmas wreath-making classes at Hopetoun House, guided by the Country Ranger using seasonal foliage from the estate's grounds.
Hopetoun House is running its Christmas wreath making workshops across three dates this December: Friday 4 December (10am and 2pm), Friday 11 December (11am), and Sunday 13 December (10am and 2pm). It's one of those steady traditions they bring back every year, and you build your own wreath from scratch rather than just tidying up a pre-made one.
The materials are what make it work. The Country Ranger gathers the foliage from the estate grounds in advance, so you're working with evergreen branches, natural textures and seasonal accents sourced right from the land around the house. You'll be guided through the process of putting it all together, and you take the finished wreath home with you. Hopetoun House calls them its ever-popular Christmas Wreath Making Classes, and the sessions are kept small, with each one limited to 20 people.

Getting there is straightforward. The house is clearly signposted from both Glasgow and Edinburgh, and there's free car parking for visitors who hold a House & Grounds or Grounds only ticket. If you're coming from the city, it's a bit of a trip out to South Queensferry, but the grounds make it worth the drive. Each session costs £45 per person, and with five slots to choose from across the three dates, there's plenty of room to fit it around your December.
