Annual Christmas shopping fair with more than 50 artisan exhibitors, live festive music and seasonal food in the decorated state rooms of Hopetoun House.
Hopetoun House hosts its annual Christmas Shopping Fair from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 November 2026, with the house open 10:00 am to 4:30 pm each day. It's a fixture of the Edinburgh festive calendar, and it makes full use of the house's Georgian state rooms as its setting.
Rather than a single hall, the fair is spread across the decorated rooms: the Ballroom, the Tapestry Room, the Red Drawing Room, the Library and the Butlers Pantry. More than 50 artisan exhibitors set up across these spaces, selling handcrafted and unique gifts. Live festive music plays throughout, so you can wander from room to room with a soundtrack running in the background.
There's plenty to eat and drink on site. The Stables Kitchen serves warming seasonal dishes, and there's a Festive Afternoon Tea in the Carriage Room, though that one is by pre-booking only. An outdoor Food Village rounds out the catering, so you've got options whether you want a proper sit-down meal or something quicker between the stalls.

If you fancy a break from the shopping, the estate's grounds are open for a walk, with woodland corners and the spring garden as good spots to watch wildlife. The house and grounds themselves are open five days a week, Thursday to Monday. Entry to the fair starts from £11.50, and it runs 10:00 am to 4:30 pm across all three days.
