Piano concert of Chopin's works by Antonio Morabito in the candlelit nave of St Giles' Cathedral on the Royal Mile.
Antonio Morabito brings Chopin to St Giles' Cathedral on Friday 23 July 2027, as part of the Evening Concert Series. The set is built around Chopin's piano works, played by candlelight in the nave of the cathedral, which sits on the Royal Mile in the heart of Edinburgh. It's a 12th-century site, with the current building starting in the 14th century and extended through to the 16th, and the performance is staged on a new Steinway Model B grand piano.
Morabito is an Italian concert pianist and a graduate of the Royal College of Music, where he earned a Master in Piano performance. He continues to teach through the RCM Teaching Service and works as a choir conductor at St Augustine Church in Hammersmith. In 2022, he founded Duo Mercadante with clarinettist Samuel Huston, and in 2024 he launched BriosOrchestra as a Global Youth Social Project. The concert is brought by CityMusic Promotions, pitched at first-time classical concert-goers.

The performance runs for one hour, from 18:15 to 19:15, and is not suitable for children under five. It's a Friday evening slot in the middle of the Royal Mile, so it's an easy one to fit in before or after your other plans for the night.
