New UK and Ireland tour production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical CATS, directed and choreographed by Drew McOnie.
CATS is coming to the Edinburgh Playhouse from 20 to 24 April 2027, as part of a major UK and Ireland tour. It's a new production directed and choreographed by Drew McOnie, presented by Harrison Musicals — Michael Harrison for Andrew Lloyd Webber.
If you've never seen it, the show is a feline musical created by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Cameron Mackintosh in 1981, based on T.S. Eliot's 1939 anthology Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats. The story follows a local tribe of street cats who gather once a year for the Jellicle Ball, led by the elderly and respected Old Deuteronomy. Rather than a conventional musical theatre plot, it runs as a choreographed jamboree, with a score that includes 'Memory', 'Jellicle Ball' and 'Macavity: The Mystery Cat'.
The production is touring the UK and Ireland, and this is its Edinburgh stop. It's a new staging, so it's not just a revival of an old version. Drew McOnie is handling the direction and the choreography, and the whole thing is presented by Harrison Musicals, with Michael Harrison working for Andrew Lloyd Webber.
