Multi-sensory candlelight concert by the Belford String Quartet playing Oasis songs in St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral.
Candlelight: Tribute to Oasis comes to St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral on Saturday 21 November, with the Belford String Quartet taking on the music of the Manchester legends. It's a tribute night, not an official Oasis show, so the songs are played by a string quartet rather than the band themselves, and the whole thing is performed by candlelight.
The setlist is a broad one, pulling from across their career. The tentative programme includes Whatever, She Is Love, Supersonic, Don't Look Back In Anger, She's Electric, Stand By Me, Half The World Away, Don't Go Away, Songbird, Little By Little, Champagne Supernova, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, The Hindu Times and Wonderwall. That's fourteen songs in an hour, so it moves through the catalogue pretty quickly.
The venue is St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral in Edinburgh's West End, a Victorian Gothic building by Sir George Gilbert Scott. It's a Category A listed Gothic Revival church, consecrated in 1879, with a 1,500 capacity and three prominent spires. It regularly hosts classical concerts, recitals and other Candlelight events.
