Multi-sensory candlelight concert in which a string quartet reimagines Michael Jackson's greatest hits as classical arrangements.
Candlelight: Tribute to Michael Jackson comes to St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral on Saturday 21 November, with a performance starting at 20:30. It's a sixty-minute show, and if you can't make that one, there are two more dates to choose from: 16 January and 13 March 2027.
The whole thing is a string quartet's take on Michael Jackson's greatest hits, reimagined as classical arrangements. It's an independent tribute, so it's not associated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Jackson or his official representatives. The music is the focus, and the setting is part of the draw: the cathedral is lit by the warm glow of countless candles, and it's a space you rarely get to see from the inside. St Mary's itself is a Victorian Gothic masterpiece in the city's West End, designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and known for its three prominent spires.
There are a few practical things to keep in mind before you head over. Doors open forty-five minutes before the start, and late entry is strictly prohibited once the performance has begun, so it's worth arriving with plenty of time to spare. Seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis within each ticket zone, which means the earlier you get in, the better your spot. There's also an age limit: guests must be at least eight years old, and anyone under sixteen needs to be accompanied by an adult guardian.
