A candlelight tribute concert by The Belford String Quartet of the music of Hans Zimmer at St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral.
Candlelight: The Best of Hans Zimmer comes to St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral on Saturday 20 November, with the music performed under the glow of thousands of candles. It's a tribute to Zimmer's work, and the cathedral is one of several locations around Edinburgh where these concerts are held — spaces that don't usually host live music.
The cathedral itself is in the city's West End, a Victorian Gothic building by Sir George Gilbert Scott, known for its three spires. The performance is about an hour long, and the Belford String Quartet is listed as the ensemble for this run. It's a tribute concert, so it's not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Hans Zimmer or his official representatives.
If you're planning to go, there are a few practical things to keep in mind. Doors open 45 minutes before the start, and there's no entry once it's begun, so it's worth arriving early. Seating is assigned indoors, and there's a fully stocked bar on hand. All guests must be aged 8 or over, and under-16s need to be accompanied by an adult. The venue is wheelchair accessible.
