Adult education workshop for over-16s to craft spiced truffles and make a handcrafted herbal cocktail with Catherine Conway-Payne.
Candies And Cocktails is an adult education workshop at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh on Thursday 3 December, running from 18:30 to 21:00. It's led by Catherine Conway-Payne, and the two halves of the evening are just what they sound like: you'll spend the session crafting spiced truffles and sipping a handcrafted herbal cocktail.
It's an over-16s workshop, so it's aimed at adults rather than families, and the numbers are kept small with only 16 spaces available. That means you're not just watching a demo from the back of a room; you'll be getting stuck in yourself, making the truffles and the cocktail as you go. If you've ever wanted to try your hand at confectionery without having to clear your own kitchen afterwards, this is a good way to do it.
The setting is the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, at 20A Inverleith Row in Stockbridge. The gardens date back to the 17th century, when they started as a physic garden, and they've grown into four separate gardens with a world-renowned living plant collection. They've been growing and studying plants for more than 330 years, and the whole place runs on the mission of exploring and explaining the world of plants for a better future. It's a fitting spot for a workshop that pairs sweets with a botanical cocktail.
