British Birds

British Birds play Sneaky Pete's on Wednesday 24 February, the first Edinburgh date of their Murmurate, Oscillate tour. It's a small one — the venue holds 100 — and it's presented by Sneaks Events.

They're a DIY garage-psych band from Chorley in Lancashire, and they've built a reputation as one of the most exciting live bands in the UK. The sound they're touring is a bit of a mix: the garage-punk energy of Billy Childish, the wry English sophistication of XTC, and the witty pop inventiveness of The Lovely Eggs. The songs come from personal experience and the everyday, tinted with psychedelia and a Northern melancholy.

They've spent the last few years touring with BC Camplight, The Lovely Eggs, and The Bug Club, and they've put out three self-released records along the way: In Search Of Mr Rykyn in February 2024, the Sucking Funny EP in August 2024, and Silence Daedalus in June 2025. This tour is for their first album on Skep Wax Records, Murmurate, Oscillate, which came out on 16 October 2026.

Doors are at 19:00, and tickets are £19.10.
