Screening of Gurinder Chadha's Bollywood adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, with English descriptive subtitles, at the Grassmarket Community Project.
Bride and Prejudice (2004) is coming to the Grassmarket Community Project on Wednesday 2 December, as part of the Grassmarket Community Picture House programme. It's Gurinder Chadha's Bollywood take on Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, with Indian cinema royalty Aiswarya Rai in the lead. If you've never seen it, it's a feel-good reimagining that swaps the Regency English countryside for a vibrant, modern Indian setting, while keeping the core story of family, marriage and social standing that Austen built.
The screening is run by the Grassmarket Community Picture House, the cinema arm of the Grassmarket Community Project, and it's shown with English descriptive subtitles. The film runs for 107 minutes, so you're looking at a good hour and forty-five minutes of cinema on a Wednesday night.
One thing to keep in mind: the film starts promptly at 7pm without trailers, so if you're arriving close to the start, you'll want to be in your seat and ready to go. The venue is at 86 Candlemaker Row, Edinburgh EH1 2QA, right in the heart of the Grassmarket.
