Leeds electro-noise band Bathing Suits brings live instrumentation and club music to Sneaky Pete's.
Bathing Suits play Sneaky Pete's on Thursday 25 February, bringing their abrasive guitars and techno to the Cowgate. It's a headline show, with the band as the sole bill on the night.
They grew out of the DIY party scene in their hometown of Leeds, where their earliest rehearsals happened in the same basements as their homemade club nights: tiny rooms transformed by blaring PAs, rumbling subwoofers and elaborate lighting rigs. That environment remains central to their sound, in which live instrumentation is played with the physicality and intensity of club music. Their debut EP, KILL BATHING SUITS, released via Underplay Recordings, draws on the energy of post-punk acts like Model/Actriz and Psychotic Monks alongside the raunchy sensibilities of early 2010s pop.
They've played The Great Escape, where they won the festival's Steve Strange Award, and have earned support from BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 Music, KEXP, Rolling Stone UK, NME, DIY, COLD Magazine and Louder Than War. Critics have called them 'the UK's most exciting new band' (The Line Of Best Fit) and 'Leeds' Always Dancey, Always Loud, Always Sexy Electro-Noise Outfit' (Cold Magazine).
