First UK tour of the Olivier Award-winning musical based on the 1985 film, directed by John Rando with music by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard.
Back to the Future The Musical is playing at the Edinburgh Playhouse on Wednesday 2 December, with the curtain going up at 7:30 PM. It's based on the 1985 film, and the stage version was brought together by the movie's original creators, Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis. The Edinburgh run is part of the production's first ever UK tour, so this is one of the first times it's come north of the border.
On the awards front, it's picked up Best New Musical at the Olivier Awards, the WhatsOnStage Awards and the Broadway World Awards. It's directed by Tony Award winner John Rando, and the music comes from multi-Grammy winners Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard. They've written original songs for the show, but they've kept the movie hits too: 'The Power of Love', 'Johnny B. Goode', 'Earth Angel' and 'Back in Time' all make an appearance. Everything is staged around a DeLorean time machine, which does a fair bit of the heavy lifting.
